Deceptive Distances

This photo as with most of mine can’t render the true depth of field that is seen in this photo. Most of the way to the bottom of the photo at centre, you can see some sand on the desert floor, yet the rocks at about two thirds the way to the top are at minimum thirty miles away and at a very high elevation. Something I noticed quickly after moving to the Mojave is that your eyes can’t always perceive the true distance. What appears to be close can actually be twenty five or more miles distant.
