Rock & Concrete

The public parking structure at Hoover Dam is very large, having five levels. Whilst waiting for the elevator, this little scene of architecture -vs- rock that’s millions of years old, caught my eye. There must have been millions of tons of rock to be removed, to build this enormous parking structure. Yet one more thing to admire at our beautiful Hoover Dam. With the Nikon in hand of course!

An Empty Spillway

Lake Mead hasn’t been full since 1983, from Wikipedia:

The lake has not reached full capacity, however, since 1983due to a combination of drought and increased water demand. As of August 2017, Lake Mead was at approximately 40% of full capacity with 10 million acre-feet of held water.

This is the spillway on the Arizona side of Hoover Dam. Looking totally parched…
