I Got That New CB Antenna…

And a few quickie photos snapped along the way while moving, going to and heading back from near the Valley Of Fire state park. I’ve posted lots of photos of that valley before. I mentioned yesterday that the car/truck wash destroyed the previous brand new antenna clean off, cut the coaxial cable and left just the magnet on the roof. Next time, remove the entire antenna, not just the whip!  By the way, since the transition to the Business hosting plan, many of you had lost me from your reader, thanks for finding your way back!

Puffy White

Not sure what this plant is called but it looks all puffy white! Snapped this yesterday morning on a short walk near Red Rock Canyon with the Nikon. Surprised it looks this good considering I had the 70-300mm lens, too much lens for close in photos. Well, things seem to be getting back to normal for my little website here since the conversion.

The conversion to the WP Business plan. Any time you make major changes to a WP website that site seems to have difficulties. My difficulty I found out yesterday after a seriously long chat session with the WP engineers is that when my site converted to using JetPack, many followers were no longer able to see this site in that Reader thingy which I dislike and have never used. Hence, nobody came to see my! The nice man reset my feed, readers are returning.

If you run out of storage space and are forced as I was to upgrade to the Business plan, I sincerely hope you don’t encounter the same problems. If I were a complete noob to WP, it would make this all the more difficult to work through. Cripe, this is a bit like going self-hosted and all of the crap that goes with moving a website over to the .org side of WP.

In other essential news to report in my exciting Las Vegas life, the other day I purchased a really nice CB Radio. Citizens Band radio is what started my interest in the radio hobby in 1980 actually. So, this is actually returning to my radio hobby roots you can say. I’m frankly bored as hell with Ham Radio and crave something more fun.

But yesterday I installed the Magnet Mount antenna on the roof of my truck. I later in the day ran the truck through the car wash up the road. I didn’t notice until hours later that the car wash brushes had snagged my mount that was atop the roof and tore it to shreds. It took the threads and several feet of coax clean off.

Well, I hope it didn’t mess up the car that came down the line! And now I’m set to take the fairly long drive north of town to where I purchased the first antenna because try as I might, try as I may I can’t find a single solitary CB shop anywhere in Las Vegas. Those that I called were apparently out of business. So off I go for a new antenna…

May your day be less stressful haha, kidding. But I’m cheap, don’t wanna waste the money!

Meatloaf Fail

My first attemp at making a meatloaf. Actually, the taste was just fine, I used a recipe from Pillsbury dot com. I think the fail was because I don’t have the correct pan shape, this glass pan doesn’t work and will be hell to get clean! My mother would laugh hard!

Got The Theme Uploads Fixed But…

I spent an hour or so online today with those lovely Happiness Engineers at WordPress.com, trying to figure out why I was unable to upload any themes or plugins into my overpriced Business Plan that had to be purchased to obtain more storage space. I still say it’s rather greedy on WordPress’ part to do this rather than begin offering single space upgrades again.

But that could be a serious griping rant of a post all it’s own. At the end of the Chat session, I was asked if I could wait a while and get the results from them via email which was fine. About an hour later, I received the email stating that the ability to upload plugins and themes has been restored. And it was, it all works dandy now. Thanks very much!

WordPress apparently has theme developers on staff, these people were able to figure out what the issues were which I won’t bore you with, too much tech stuff going on behind the scenes. So, it’s all set and I went on a tangent hunting for simple, white Minimal themes. I found a few on WordPress.org, downloaded them and activated them.

The issue I came across is that some of these themes need to have a Featured Image for each post which is not something I’ve ever done. Not sure if that’s a bad thing or not. More tech crap… So I’ve opted for themes that don’t have to have the Featured Image. I’ve not found the right theme yet in spite of all the hassle, this is apparently going to take a while to find the right theme. So the ‘old’ them is back up, maybe I should just use this one. Doesn’t this sound like lots of fun?

New Background & Colours

I’ve recently been frustrated as hell with my new WP.COM Business ‘upgrade’.  No matter how many Chats I’ve had with these ‘Happiness Engineers’, my frustration continues unabated and builds with my attempts to install a few of the downloaded themes I have attempted to install on this website. Hey, I now have absolutely unlimited video and photographic uploads. I would like the opportunity to try different themes. Your thoughts my friends? Current theme awesome?

Chevy Chevelle

Heading into Lowe’s to purchase a cheap paint tray and roller for the bathroom door today, I spotted this beauty on the way out. I walked up to the car, it’s windows down and had a good look, this car seems all original. If it’s a restoration, whoever did the work did a truly fantastic job. I’ll bet it was a body-off restoration, my Nikon would have captured this image much better!
