Palms -n- Snow

Not a great photo really but I like the contrast between two worlds, the palm trees representing warmth and the deep cold of the snow covered mountains on the west side of the valley. I actually snapped this while stopped at a traffic light! I try for any photo opportunity that may result in a winner photo, this one is just so-so.

Anyway, I had two doctor appointments today, yeah. Fun eh? The first was with my GP for the BP check. My medications were adjusted of course. No new medications but the amount was ramped up. Next was a visit to my Cardiologist.

My appointment was supposed to be at 4:40 PM but I arrived at 2 PM to ask if there were any canceled appointments that would allow me to get done with all of this sooner.

Turns out, I went in almost immediately for my Echo on my heart, then the consultation. I received the news I’d been hoping for – my heart ejection fraction is exactly where it should be for a man of my age. Yeah baby!! I was diagnosed in 2002 with Congestive Heart Failure.

Apparently I’m beating the shit out of the odds! All I need now is to get the correct balance of medication to bring the BP down fully. And, I seriously need to drop at least twenty pounds.

Obviously, that would go a long way in improving my health. I’m concocting a plan to start on next month to get started in that direction.

  1. My EF is terrific 🙂

Perhaps you need to adjust your diet somehow?! Or start taking walks … *said I, who still haven’t pulled myself together to start walking*. It’s so much easier when you’re two people … walking gets kind of boring when you’re on your own.

    1. I’d rather be single and deal with the occasional alone issues. I hope to lose weight but that’s sooooo up in the air. My job is highly physical.

  2. Great news on “beating the shit out of the odds!” 😊

Great picture too! I like the palm trees against the snowy backdrop… is it cold there at the moment? (I have no clue when it comes to climates!)

    1. Hi Amanda! Sorry, your comment went to Spam, wrong!!! My doctor changed one of my meds today, the one I’m on has me feeling buzzed and weak. NOT cool. Hoping the new one works better. Today it’s in the low 60’s in F. Next week promises low to mid 70’s which is awesome. I’m glad the winter temps are finally leaving the valley, not cold at all by my home state of Michigan standard but I’ve acclimated to the desert. In a few weeks we’ll be back to the 100+ range.Night time temps currently here are in the upper 40’s F.

      1. That’s still quite warm, isn’t it? Although I expect it’s much cooler in the night. Honestly, I haven’t got a clue about temperatures. We work in degree Celsius over here!

Sorry to hear about the meds. Such a pain! Hopefully you find something that works for you soon!
