Out And About

OK, so I changed my mind and went for a ride instead of being inside all day! And I’m glad I did go as it was snowing, I’ve never seen this part of the desert with any snow at all and it’s really beautiful.

It’s amazing how just a few hundred feet increase or decrease in elevation, you drive into and out of the snow. Snow at 3900 foot. Drove down to the store on Blue Diamond road, change in elevation of about 400 feet, no snow!

It’s interesting to me as a guy from the flat lands of Michigan anyway. Here are ten photos from the Nikon D3300, gently processed. I hope you had a great weekend wherever you are today.

  1. John, you capture such beautiful images. I’m an aspiring artist (digital sketching) and several of these (3rd image in particular) would be an interesting challenge as inspiration. Would you mind if I gave it a try?

  2. what the heck is going on?! LOL! You have snow and it is in the 60s here. Riding around with the sunroof open yesterday and today! Enjoy your little winter!

    1. I saw that on the weather channel, nice!! Today Georgia has been hammered with tornadoes. Sucks. A series of storms moving across our area, lots and lots of rain and cool here. But drive into Red Rock Canyon and you’ve got snow on the ground. The snowy area is almost exactly 1000 feet higher than my apartment. Many of the mountains around the valley now have snow caps, very pretty!
